12-year-old boy killed, 5 injured in shooting near Atlanta train station

A 12-year-old boy was killed and at least five others were injured as a result of a dispute that led to a shooting in Atlanta, Georgia around 8 pm Saturday night.

The Atlanta Police Department told 11Alive that night that one person was killed at the scene, and five others were taken to the hospital. The shooting reportedly involved all teenagers, and took place on Market Street in the Atlantic Station area, an upscale Atlanta neighborhood and outdoor shopping district. One witness told the outlet that they heard around 30 gunshots.

On Sunday, Mayor Andre Dickens made the heartbreaking announcement that the victim was a 12-year-old boy. Zyion Charles was later identified by the Fulton County Medical Examiner, reported 11Alive…
