‘200-foot flames, raining fire embers’: Raging wildfire burns thousands of acres in New Jersey

Firefighters in Ocean County, New Jersey, are trying to contain a raging wildfire that has torched thousands of acres, threatening structures in the area.

Firefighters are busy containing a once-raging wildfire that tore through New Jersey overnight forcing hundreds of people to evacuate.

The New Jersey Forest Fire Service said the Jimmy’s Waterhole Fire is now 75% contained and has grown to 3,859 acres as of Wednesday morning.

“This fire exhibited extreme fire behavior,” said John Cecil, assistant commissioner of State Parks, Forests, and Historic Sites of the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection. “We saw a wall of fire, 200-foot flames, raining fire embers.”
