Nicholas Seppy, a New Jersey teenager, won a seat at his local school board election after Covid-19 policies interfered with his entire senior year of high school.
Seppy, who said in an interview that the Covid shutdowns were âawful,â stated that he ran for school board âout of a desire to serve in [his] communityâ and to âgive parents a voice in the district.â
The 19-year-old, who graduated in 2020 from Egg Harbor Township High School in South Jerseyâs Atlantic County, beat long-time incumbent Terre Alabarda for a seat on the school board. Seppy reportedly beat Alabarda by a massive margin of 17-points, earning 4,042 votes to Alabardaâs 2,830.
