The Russian invasion of Ukraine has now been going on for a little over a month. There are conflicting reports from both sides, but we know that almost all major Ukrainian cities are encircled by Russia and intense fighting is going on in the East Ukrainian city of Mariupol.
As of last week, officials estimate that over 4,000 people have died in the fighting and the mayor of Mariupol estimates that 90 percent of the cities buildings have been damaged of destroyed.
Western countries have committed billions of dollars in military aid to Ukraine, including anti-tank and anti-air weapons. Some countries have considered sending fighter jets to Ukraine to bolster its Air Force that has been decimated by the invasion. The decision to send fighter jets has been delayed by logistical issues and concerns that the move would be seen as a major escalation by Russia…
