Divine Diction: Harnessing the God-Given Power of Words in Our Lives

By: Brendi Wells for Jellyfish.News

Words hold immense significance in the Bible, serving as both a testament to God’s Omnipotent Power and a reflection of our own human capacities. In the beginning, God spoke the universe into existence, a breathtaking demonstration of the generative strength of words. With mere utterances, He set the celestial bodies in their places, and they remain suspended by the same divine decrees. Scripture assures us that God’s Word is unyielding, for “it shall not return to Him void, but it shall accomplish what He pleases, and it shall prosper in the thing for which He sent it.” (Isaiah 55:11)by artist and licensed Art Teacher Liza - https://www.ssww.com/blog/power-of-words-creative-educational-craft-activity/

As we are made in God’s image, our words inherit a fraction of this potency. We wield the capacity to uplift or shatter, to inspire or to harm. Negative thoughts beget negative words, which, in turn, manifest negative actions and consequences. It is a profound responsibility to recognize the duality of our speech’s potential and to choose words that cultivate life, mirroring the divine example set before us.

To genuinely transform your reality, you must first reshape the language you employ. The words you choose and utter aren’t mere sounds, but powerful tools that craft your perceptions, emotions, and ultimately your experiences. God, in His infinite wisdom, has bestowed upon you the gift of free will. This allows you not only to make choices but also to redirect the course of your thoughts and words. Overcoming negative thinking and speech is your testament to harnessing this divine gift. With conscious effort, you can transition from a realm of pessimism to one of hope and positivity. You need to be vigilant about the narratives you tell yourself, recognizing that your words have the power to both imprison and liberate. Being mindful of this grants you the potential to unlock a life filled with greater purpose and joy.

O
ur subconscious interprets language very literally, meaning the words we use can shape our reality. Negative language can undermine our confidence and success, while positive language can encourage growth and achievement.

Start your journey by being mindful of the following:

Reframing your words Towards Desires: Focus on the positives. Instead of emphasizing lack, focus on aspirations and plans.

Express Commitment: Words like “I will” show determination. Avoid vague terms like “I’ll try”.

Avoid Absolutes: Words like “always”, “never”, and “impossible” can limit potential.

State Opinions Confidently: Don’t downplay your thoughts with prefaces like “I may be wrong but
”.

Limit Labels: Avoid defining yourself narrowly. Past behavior doesn’t dictate future actions.

To adopt more empowering language, practice consistently, ask trusted friends or family for feedback, and be patient with your progress. Remember who you are! You are a child of the Living God, (the Alpha and the Omega – the Beginning and End of EVERYTHING), you were fearfully and wonderfully made in the image of God Himself. (Psalm 139) No weapon formed against you shall prosper and no tongue that is raised against you in judgement shall stand! (Isaiah 54:17)

Words have power, so choose them wisely.

Very deep but refreshing article. It is God’s divine gift for humans to make words into deeds. Are they negative or positive? Our brief time on earth can be used to build or destroy the will, freedoms, humanity we’ve been gifted. Evil does exist and as you rightfully state – we have a choice to advance it or deny it by our words. Words which don’t come from a secret place, but the mind, which holds then the power by which every human can be free, or be imprisoned. Well said Brendi! Choose your path through your words – be positive and free, or negative and imprisoned.
