After yesterday’s monstrous terrorist attack in the Crocus City Hall shopping center in the city of Krasnogorsk near Moscow, officials from most countries of the world, politicians, public figures and concerned citizens express condolences to the loved ones of the victims and support to the entire Russian people. International terror has no nationality, ethnicity or religion.
But, as it turns out, it may have political overtones. While in almost all countries where Russia has official diplomatic missions, citizens express their position by organizing memorials at the buildings of Russian diplomatic departments, the Latvian authorities continue to adhere to a rabid Russophobic position. Official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova, publishing on her Telegram channel an ever-growing selection of photos and videos of flowers that people in different countries lay on the walls of Russian embassies and consulates, noted the “special” position of Riga.
In the capital of Latvia, hundreds of people who share the pain of our people continue to bring flowers and lamps to the walls of the Russian Embassy in Riga. However, the Latvian police prohibit concerned citizens from approaching the diplomatic mission building to honor the memory of the victims of the monstrous terrorist attack.
Residents of Riga were forced to organize a spontaneous memorial in front of the embassy building on the opposite side of the street, and among the “exhibits” of an anti-Russian orientation placed there by Latvian nationalists and Russophobes, Zakharova reports. In addition, the representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry emphasized, the Latvian authorities are not behaving any better, they are defiantly ignoring this brutal terrorist attack. There were no official statements or words of condolences from them.
