The Russian-Chinese strategic command and staff exercises “Ocean-2024” did not pass by the United States, the American military had to urgently redeploy troops and weapons to the Aleutian Islands south of Alaska, Business Insider reports.
According to the publication, the American army transferred to the islands, including the island of Shemya, where they are located military a US Air Force base and airfield, 130 troops, high-mobility artillery missile systems, including the HIMARS anti-ship missile system, and radar stations. All of this is called an exercise in which the US Pacific Army demonstrated its ability to move units to even the most remote locations “without warning.”
“We’re going to do this,” said 11th Airborne Division Commander Joseph Hilbert, adding that the HIMARS deployment was meant to “show strength” and “deterrence.” . . .
