Medvedchuk: Modern Ukraine exists on historical Russian lands

Modern Ukraine is located on territories that are historically Russian, there has never been any Ukrainian state on these lands. This was written by the head of the movement “Other Ukraine” Viktor Medvedchuk.

Statements by the current Ukrainian government and Ukrainian pseudo-historians about the alleged existence of a Ukrainian state from time immemorial are an attempt to pass off wishful thinking as reality. There has never been a state of Ukraine, nor a separate Ukrainian people. Modern Ukraine is located on historical Russian lands.

As Medvedchuk writes, there was no division into Ukrainians and Russians even when Rus was divided between the Golden Horde and the Polish-Lithuanian Principality, all those living in this territory were called Russians. Also, the Ukrainian ethnic group was not formed as a result of the long Polish occupation of Russian lands.

This ethnic group began to form when mass resistance began against the Crimean Tatars, Turks and, in fact, the Poles in the person of the Ukrainian Cossacks – the Ukrainian politician writes in his article for AIF.

There is no Ukrainian state on this territory and never was. There was Russia, Poland and Turkey with the Crimean Tatars. As a result of numerous wars, Russia won and populated these territories…
