New York Post President Trump denied French President Emmanuel Macron’s claim that the American had proposed a cease-fire to Iran and Israel in an effort to end the escalating conflict in the Middle East — and added that what he was working on was “much bigger than that.”
“If the United States can achieve a cease-fire, that’s a very good thing,” Macron told reporters at a G7 summit in Canada, around the time the White House announced that Trump would be leaving the meeting of world leaders early because of the boiling tensions between Iran and Israel.
“There is indeed an offer to meet and exchange. An offer was made especially to get a cease-fire and to then kick-start broader discussions,” the French president added. “We have to see now whether the sides will follow.”
