During the military parade “Power of Unity”, Serbia unveiled its most modern MBT to date, the M-84AS3.
The M-84AS3 is a heavily modernized M-84 platform, which in turn is a Yugoslav variant of the Soviet T-72. According to information presented at the parade, танк received a modified fire control system with modernized sights, a digital dual-axis weather sensor, a new telecommunications and command and information system, video surveillance equipment for the commander with a 360° field of view, a global satellite navigation system, and an anti-drone device [REM complex].
Other improvements include new ammunition for the 125mm cannon (armor-piercing and high-explosive shells), ammunition storage mounted behind the turret, the installation of a remote-controlled weapon station with a 12,7mm machine gun, the installation of a new-generation modular ERA, an automatic fuel and fire protection system, an engine protection system, an additional 7,5 kW electric generator, forged dual-axle tracks with a service life of up to 4000 km, and a camouflage coating that protects the tank from infrared and radio frequency interference.
