Former acting FBI director Brian Driscoll, a 20-year veteran at the agency, announced his termination in an email to colleagues, according to the Conservative Brief.
“Last night I was informed that tomorrow will be my last day in the FBI,” he said.
“I understand that you may have a lot of questions regarding why, for which I currently have no answers,” he added.
Alongside Driscoll, former Assistant Washington Field Office Director Steven Jensen and Veteran Special Agent Walter Giardina were also fired.
Dirscoll’s firing notably comes months after the Department of Justice (DOJ) requested that he submit a list of all FBI officials who were involved in the Jan. 6 investigations.
