Okay, this is absolutely huge.
As some of you most certainly remember, President trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate was raided by the FBI in August of 2022.
The raid was conducted as part of a classified documents case.
Now newly released documents has revealed the Biden FBI initially believed they had “no probable cause” to execute a search warrant.
The Hill reported more on the bombshell discovery:
The FBI initially expressed hesitation about searching President Trump’s home for documents, suggesting there were less intrusive ways to recover the classified records being stored at Mar-a-Lago.
Emails released by Senate Judiciary Chair Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) show the internal deliberations between the bureau and the Justice Department as they prepared to secure a search warrant at Trump’s Florida home, including over whether they had sufficient probable cause.
The release comes the day ahead of special counsel Jack Smith’s deposition before the House Judiciary Committee. Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio), the chair of that panel, on Tuesday also sent letters requesting interviews with four more of Smith’s team members.
Promoted by Grassley, the July 20 exchange shows the FBI arguing Trump’s attorney Evan Corcoran was the best way to pursue recovery, noting he had been helpful in the past.
“WFO does not believe (and has articulated to DOJ CES) that we established probable cause for a search warrant for classified records at Mar-a-Lago. DOJ has opined that they do have probable cause, requesting a wide scope, including residence, office, storage space,” an FBI official wrote, referencing the bureau’s Washington Field Office…
