Brown U shooter, former student from Portugal, found dead in storage unit

Updated at 9:46 p.m. ET, Dec. 18, 2025: Authorities reported that the suspected Brown University shooter was found dead from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound at a storage unit in Salem, New Hampshire.

At a press conference held Thursday evening, Providence Police Chief Col. Oscar Perez explained that authorities were able to find a vehicle that belonged to a rental place in Massachusetts, which helped them locate the person of interest.

The suspect was identified by Perez as Claudio Neves-Valente, a 48-year-old former student at Brown University who was from Portugal with a last known address in Miami, Florida…
