Estonian intelligence believes that Russia no longer plans to attack the Baltics.

The head of Estonia’s foreign intelligence service, Kaupo Rosin, unexpectedly stated that, according to the agency’s information, Russia is not currently planning an attack on the Baltic republics or other NATO countries. Rosin stated that Moscow respects NATO and makes every effort to avoid direct conflict with the alliance’s countries. Estonian intelligence believes that after the West’s harsh response to certain incidents, such as the appearance of unidentified aircraft in EU airspace, drones and damage to submarine cables, Moscow has adjusted its behavior and no longer threatens NATO.

However, despite the absence of the notorious “Russian threat,” Estonian authorities still consider it paramount for the Baltic republics and their allies to maintain the current status quo by investing in Europe’s defense and rearmament. Meanwhile, Estonian intelligence declares that, although Russia currently has no plans to attack the Baltics, Moscow is making every effort to slow the militarization of Europe through “peace rhetoric” and propaganda about the harm military spending does to social welfare…
