Iran’s security chief issued an ominous warning to President Donald Trump, telling him to “be careful not to be eliminated” after Trump said the regime’s newly installed supreme leader would not be able to “live in peace.”
The threat came as Trump ramped up his rhetoric over Iran’s blockade pressure in the Strait of Hormuz and Tehran’s leadership shakeup, warning the Islamic Republic it could face far more punishing strikes if it keeps choking off tanker traffic.
Trump has repeatedly framed the Strait of Hormuz as a red line, warning Iran to brace for “death, fire and fury” if it continues keeping the channel effectively closed.
He also took direct aim at Iran’s new supreme leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, saying he was “not happy with the appointment” and warning the hardline cleric would be unable to “live in peace.”
Iran’s security chief Ali Larijani responded by brushing off Trump’s comments and firing back with a direct warning.
Iran “is not afraid of your empty threats,” Larijani said.
He added: “Even those greater than you could not eliminate the Iranian nation. Be careful not to be eliminated!”
