Ukraine Escalates Persecution Of Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC) Abducting By Force Two Monks From Izium

Izium, a city in what is today the Eastern Ukrainian province of Kharkiv Oblast, previously part of the Principality of Moscow and later the Tsardom of Russia, is home to various Orthodox churches and monasteries including Peschansk Monastery, within the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC) which is in communion with the Moscow Patriarchate. The UOC is the largest Christian denomination in Ukraine, while the Zelensky regime, with the dubious support of Patriarch Bartholomew of Constantinople, formed the Orthodox Church of Ukraine (OCU) as a counter measure deemed to be more subservient to Kiev.

The Peschansk Monastery (UOC) in Izium reported that two monks—Archimandrite Leontiy and Hieromonk Arseniy—were taken away by representatives of the SBU (Security Service of Ukraine) and the TRC (Territorial Recruitment Center)…
