Breakthrough in the Waiting

Trusting God, one step at a time, when the road ahead is unclear

By Lalisha Pather-Naidoo

“Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” — Psalm 119:105

It is April 2026, and here in Central Alberta, Canada spring does not always arrive gently.

The weather shifts drastically. One day it can feel like winter is finally loosening its grip, and the next, temperatures can drop again without warning. Living so close to the mountains, the weather can change at a moment’s notice. Today, as we step into this spring month, we find ourselves in the middle of a snowy day. Thick snow is falling, visibility is very low, and a heavy white blanket has covered the land, the pavements, and the roads.

The city can hardly keep up with the snow removal. Sidewalks remain covered, even after they have been shoveled. It makes simple things difficult — walking, shopping, visiting, getting in and out of a vehicle, and just trying to move through the day. For the young and the old alike, navigating through this kind of weather becomes a challenge. When visibility is so low, even familiar places can feel uncertain.

And yet, it is on a day like this that I find myself writing about breakthroughs.

There is something deeply significant about speaking of breakthroughs on a day marked by such low visibility, such stillness, and such a vast covering of white. It is as though a great blanket has fallen over Central Alberta, wrapping everything in thick snow. And yet, even in this, there is beauty.

There is beauty in the white dust that falls from the sky.

I still remember the first day I ever saw snow. There was something unforgettable about it. It made me think of the words, “white as snow.” So pure. So clean. So, striking. Snow can be bright, almost blinding at times, yet it speaks of cleansing, stillness, and peace. It covers everything in a hush, as if creation itself is pausing for a moment.

And perhaps that is what waiting can feel like too.

Just as we wait for the snowstorm to pass, for the skies to clear, and for the weather to change, so too in life we wait for the conditions around us to shift. We wait for clearer skies. We wait for the sunshine to break through. We wait for the warmth to return. We wait for the beauty of green trees, fresh blossoms, and evidence that a new season has truly arrived.

So often, breakthroughs feel like that.

It feels like waiting through a storm, longing for the day when life will feel lighter, clearer, warmer, and easier to navigate. It feels like hoping that what has covered us for so long will finally lift, and that what has been hidden beneath the cold weight of hardship will begin to bloom again.

Sometimes we wonder about breakthroughs.

We wonder about the waiting, the waiting, and the waiting, for something to shift. We hold on to hope, hoping for more, hoping for the door to open, hoping for a better day, a new outcome, happier moments, and the answer we have long prayed for. Yet life does not always unfold the way we expect.

Sometimes the hardest part of faith is not the battle itself but not being able to see.

I am reminded of the Scripture: “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.”

“God’s Word is not always a floodlight showing us the next ten kilometres. It is a lamp to our feet and a light to our path.”

What a powerful picture of faith. God’s Word is not always a floodlight showing us the next ten kilometres. It is a lamp to our feet and a light to our path. It gives enough light for the next step, not always the whole journey.

It is like walking on a snowy day. You cannot always see far ahead. You can only see a few steps in front of you. And that is often how faith works. As we take one step, the path becomes clearer, then another step, and a little more light comes. But it is one foot at a time, not one kilometre at a time.

We often want the full picture. We want the details. We want the outcome, the timeline, and the guarantee. But would it still be faithful if we knew everything in advance? Would it still be surrendering if we already knew exactly how it would all turn out?

Faith is trusting God when we cannot trace Him.
Faith is walking when we do not have all the answers.
Faith is surrendering completely, even when the road ahead is hidden from view.

God desires that we trust Him, believe His Word, and stand firm even when we cannot yet see the breakthrough.

So, to those who are waiting in this season — waiting for an open door, waiting for an opportunity, waiting for the sun to shine again, waiting to be healed, waiting for a job to be ratified, waiting for provision, waiting for the purchase of a new home, waiting to fall pregnant, waiting for restoration, waiting for joy to return — I want to encourage you in April 2026:

Do not lose heart.

You may not be able to see far ahead, but God is still leading you. You may not see the whole road, but He has given you light for this step. And sometimes that is enough.

“Sometimes breakthrough begins with simply trusting God for today.”

Jesus taught us to pray, “Give us this day our daily bread.”

Daily bread.
Not bread for next week.
Not bread for next month.
Not bread for next year.
But bread is for today.

Grace for today.
Strength for today.
Mercy for today.
Wisdom for today.
Hope for today.

God meets us in the space we are in. He is not asking us to carry tomorrow before it comes. He is asking us to trust Him here, now, at this moment.

So, keep walking.
Keep believing.
Keep praying.
Keep standing.

“Even when you cannot see it, God is working. Even in the waiting, He is moving.”

Because even when you cannot see it, God is working.
Even in the waiting, He is moving.
Even in the silence, He is preparing.
Even in the delay, He is still God.

Your breakthrough is not forgotten.
Your prayers are not wasted.
Your tears are not unseen.
Your waiting is not meaningless.

The God of breakthrough is still able to make a way where there seems to be no way. He still opens doors no man can shut. He still brings light into darkness, beauty from ashes, and life out of barren places.

We believe it, and we receive it, in the mighty name of Jesus.

The dam is about to burst; the enclosure is about to give way…  The God of the breakthrough — Baal Perazim — is about to break forth with power, with force, and with divine intervention.

Those prayers you have carried for so long, those tears you have sown in secret, those cries lifted through waiting seasons, long nights, and deep valleys — God has not forgotten one of them. What has felt delayed is not denied. What has been held back is about to be released.

As we step into April, we enter with expectation, with faith, and with holy anticipation. We trust God in this spring season for a mighty outpouring over every area of our lives — spiritually, emotionally, physically, relationally, and financially. Let there be a fresh breaking forth. Let there be sudden movements. Let there be divine acceleration, answered prayer, restored hope, and supernatural turnaround.

The Lord is shifting seasons. He is making a way where there seemed to be none. What was barren will bloom. What shuts up will open. What was heavy will break. The breakthrough is here, and the God who answers by fire is about to move.

So, take the next step.
Trust Him for today.
And know that the same God who lights your path will also bring you through.

God is present in the waiting.
He is present in the cover.
He is present in silence.
And He is present before the breakthrough ever appears.

He is the Lord of the Valley and the Lord of the mountains. He is God in the storm and God in the stillness. He is faithful in hidden places, and glorious in the breakthrough.

So even if all you can see today is the next step, take it.
Even if all you have is enough grace for this moment, receive it.
Even if the skies still seem grey and the road still feels uncertain, trust Him.

Because the snow will not last forever.
The storm will not remain forever.
The low visibility will not define the whole journey.

There is a breaking forthcoming.
There is a clearing ahead.
There is warmth after this winter.

“There is life beneath what looks covered. There is beauty waiting to bloom.”

And it will come.

In Jesus’ name, amen.
