Israeli Airstrike Takes Out Top Iranian Intel Chief, Officials Say

An Israeli airstrike killed Major General Seyed Majid Khademi, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps’ (IRGC) intelligence chief, on Monday, according to Israel’s defense minister and Iranian state media.

Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz said his country’s forces had targeted the intel chief in a statement, DW reported. The IRGC Public Relations Department announced Khademi was “martyred” in an attack Monday, according to Iranian state media Press TV. Katz referred to Khademi as one of the IRGC’s three main leaders, The New York Times (NYT) reported.

“The Revolutionary Guards are shooting at civilians and we are eliminating the leaders of the terrorists,” said Katz, according to DW. “Iran’s leaders live with a sense of being targeted. We will continue to hunt them down one by one…
