UNITED STATES – November 11 was Veterans Day, a day when we honor those men and women who have served or are currently servicing in the military. Memorial Day is the day when we honor those who paid the ultimate price for our freedom.
It is important to recognize our brave military who lost their lives, as well as honor those who have served and currently serve. Because right now, it is important to gain some perspective, especially when the freedoms these people served or died to protect are under attack. Our enemy this time is not foreign…it is the enemy within.
The war which started it all, the American Revolution saw an estimated 6,800 members of the Continental Army or the colonial militias lose their lives. The War of 1812 saw over double that number, around 15,000 Americans die either from fighting or from disease.
The Civil War saw over 650,000 Americans killed on both sides of the conflict, the Union and the Confederacy.
In the 20th Century, World War I saw over 53,000 Americans die in combat, with over 63,000 dying from other causes, such as disease or the Spanish Flu. World War II saw 407,316 casualties, with over 671,000 wounded.
Korea saw 54,426 die as a result of that war between North and South Korea. Vietnam saw 58,220 Americans die, while Operation Desert Storm saw 383 Americans killed.
The number of American troops killed in Iraq and Afghanistan is estimated at 8,498 sources say.
What did all of these men and women die for? We like to say they died to protect our freedom. And for a long time, that was the case.
But one must wonder, if those men and women knew what America in 2020 would look like, would they still have been willing to risk their lives for what this country is turning into? I’m not so sure.
The Washington Examiner reported on Veteran’s Day, the Reverend Franklin Graham posted a message in which he stated his belief that the United States is indeed once again under attack.
This time, however, the attack is not from an enemy attacking one of our naval bases in the Hawaiian Islands or flying passenger planes into two towers in New York and the Pentagon in Washington, DC. This time, it is the enemy within.
We have seen this before, specifically in the 1960’s. Back then, we were engaged in a very unpopular war in Vietnam, and in 1968, we saw civil rights icon Dr. Martin Luther King killed by an assassin’s bullet. That set off a summer of rage which led to riots across American cities and a huge spike in violence.
I was 10 years old when this happened, and I remember driving by Hartford, Connecticut going to my uncle’s house and seeing buildings burning in the north end of the city. It was in some ways a war zone. Not unlike we’ve seen in cities this past summer and fall.
I agree with Reverend Graham. He said:
“It seems our nation is under attack—attack from within, from socialists who want to bring anarchy to our streets,” he said in a Facebook post.
“The hard-won freedoms that we have enjoyed in America are very much at stake. Pray for the President, our Commander-in-Chief, as he leads the nation during these turbulent times, that God would give him wisdom, grace, and understanding for time such as these.”
This year, starting in May with the death of George Floyd, we have seen anarchy on our streets, perpetrated by groups such as Antifa, Black Lives Matter, and others. Some people enjoined initially peaceful protests because they honestly believed there were issues that needed to be addressed.
Unfortunately, those people were soon coopted by those interested in taking advantage of the situation. If what has happened sounds familiar, it should. And unfortunately, we appear to have a Democratic party more than ready, willing and able to take advantage of it.
Have you heard of Cloward and Piven? How about the Cloward-Piven Strategy? Richard Andrew Cloward and his wife Frances Fox Piven were two Columbia University sociologists who also happened to be longtime members of the Democratic Socialists of America. Socialists in academia—go figure.
What exactly is the Cloward-Piven Strategy? The Reader’s Digest version is that it “seeks to hasten the fall of capitalism by overloading the government bureaucracy with a flood of impossible demands, thus pushing society into crisis and economic collapse.”
Familiar? Look no further than the events of the past five months.
Cloward and Piven published an article in The Nation in 1966 called, “The Weight of the Poor: A Strategy to End Poverty.” After this article was published, The Nation sold 30,000 reprints. Social activists were enthralled by the strategy and wanted to put it into effect.
The strategy involved basically “overwhelming the system” and thus making it “crash.” The Cloward-Piven strategy provides that the so-called “ruling class” uses welfare to weaken the poor and that it is utilized basically to “placate” the masses, thus reducing the chances of rebellion. That according to them is bad.
Cloward told the New York Times on September 27, 1970 that poor people are only able to advance when “the rest of society is afraid of them.”
They advocated working to “sabotage and destroy’ the welfare system, while asserting that the collapse of the welfare state would ignite a political and financial crisis that would rock the country, poor people would rise in revolt, and then the rest of society would accept their demands.
The ultimate goal is to replace capitalism with socialism.
The couple proposed implementing a “massive drive to recruit the poor onto the welfare rolls,” with the ultimate goal being to crash the system.
They predicted that should this happen, there would be “a profound financial and political crisis” that would result in “powerful forces for major economic reform at the national level.”
If you look at what some in our country are trying to do, they are seeking programs such as universal basic income, virtual open borders, defunding of the police and prison systems. Accomplishing programs such as these would put a severe strain on our system. It’s almost like that is the intent. I would argue it is.
A second part of the Cloward-Piven strategy called for “cadres of aggressive organizers” to use “demonstrations to create a climate of militancy.”
Sound familiar? Portland? Seattle? New York? Washington, DC? After that, they predicted the following:
- “Politicians would be intimated by threats of black violence would appeal to the federal government for help;
- “Carefully orchestrated media campaigns, carried out by friendly left-wing journalists would float the idea of ‘a federal program of income redistribution’ in the form of a guaranteed living income for all—working and non-working people alike;
- “Local officials would clutch at this idea like drowning men to a lifeline. They would apply pressure on Washington to implement it;
- “With every major city erupting into chaos, Washington would have to act.”
Programs such as this were often called “Trojan Horse Initiatives”—defined as movements where the outward purpose seems to be providing help to the poor and less fortunate, however the real objective is to use those people as “useful idiots” acting in the position of revolutionaries, with the ultimate goal of overwhelming the system and crashing it.
Fear, turmoil, violence and economic collapse would go along with such a breakdown, which would provide perfect conditions for bringing about radical change.
Sound familiar? It should.
Dr. Graham is on to something. The United States does appear to have an enemy. The enemy within.
