A 56-year-old woman died after an explosion sent debris flying during a gender-reveal party at a home in rural Iowa on Saturday, authorities said.
The Marion County Sheriff’s Office says it received a report at around 4.03pm of an explosion at a home in Knoxville.
When sheriff’s deputies arrived at the home, the woman was pronounced dead, according to the Des Moines Register.
An investigation found that an explosion took place during a gender reveal announcement party.
Authorities said that the explosion sent debris flying, fatally injuring the victim.
The identity of the woman has yet to be revealed.
