Â
Governor Ron DeSantis got a massive standing ovation this morning while answering what was clearly a deranged question from a reporter about Trump:
DeSantis was signing into law a bill that would allow everyday Floridians sue Big Tech for monetary damages. Hereâs a quick synopsis of what the bill does, right from the governorâs website:
- All Floridians treated unfairly by Big Tech platforms will have the right to sue companies that violate this law â and win monetary damages. This reform safeguards the rights of every Floridian by requiring social media companies to be transparent about their content moderation practices and give users proper notice of changes to those policies, which prevents Big Tech bureaucrats from âmoving the goalpostsâ to silence viewpoints they donât like.
- The Attorney General of Florida can bring action against technology companies that violate this law, under Floridaâs Unfair and Deceptive Trade Practices Act. If social media platforms are found to have violated antitrust law, they will be restricted from contracting with any public entity. That âantitrust violatorâ blacklist imposes real consequences for Big Tech oligopoliesâ bottom line.
- Big Tech is prohibited from de-platforming Floridian political candidates. The Florida Election Commission will impose fines of $250,000 per day on any social media company that de-platforms any candidate for statewide office, and $25,000 per day for de-platforming candidates for non-statewide offices. Any Floridian can block any candidate they donât want to hear from, and that is a right that belongs to each citizen â itâs not for Big Tech companies to decide.
While DeSantis was taking questions, a reporter asked him this:
I want to ask you about the bill youâre signing here today. Youâre a loyal support of former President Donald Trump. Of course Donald Trump is now a resident in Florida and he was deplatformed. Is this bill for him?
This is how ridiculous leftist reporters are, that everything must revolve around Donald Trump because they hate him so much. And people there quickly recognized this, because you could hear the commotion in the room as soon as she finished asking her question.
DeSantis corrected the reporter and then turned it around on her to BIG applause:
The bill is for everyday Floridians. This is what we said and it would allow any Floridian to be able to provide what theyâre doing. But I think thatâs another issue thatâs been brought to bare. When you deplatform the President of the United States but you let Ayatollah Khomeini talk about killing Jews, that is wrong.
Well that was it for DeSantisâ answer because the applause, cheering, and standing ovation took it from there. In fact it went on for so long DeSantis finally just thanked everyone for coming and left.UPDATE: Here are another clip from DeSantis this morning:
