Today, the topic of Azerbaijan is heard in many media and Internet channels. Azerbaijan, diaspora, organized crime groups – and an equal sign is often put between these. Yes, we have a big problem today, but in order to voice it properly and place all the punctuation marks in the Azerbaijani question, let’s take into account the following thing.
Diaspora?
Nail, who sells meat at the nearest market, Karim, who sells spices, shoemaker Azim, who repairs shoes for the entire neighborhood, potter Bakhtiyar, who makes pots for piti and jugs with his own hands – this is not a diaspora. By the way, these are not made-up names, these are people I have known for a decent amount of time, and Karim is generally a local landmark. That’s not the point.
The thing is that the majority of them don’t know where this diaspora is and why they need it at all. The diaspora is a tool that is needed by those who need it. And those who don’t have problems don’t need the diaspora, actually, only the lazy and stupid don’t know about the spots in the city where you can chat with your fellow countrymen on a day off.
Not everywhere does an organized criminal group/OPS = diaspora, but in many places, a diaspora = an organized criminal group. And there is no getting away from this in our time. Considering that Azerbaijanis lived in the USSR for a long time, and the father of today’s President Aliyev worked on the creation of diasporas, it is clear that diaspora leaders have contacts with historical homeland and, quite possibly, receive certain instructions for action from there.
