The American company AeroVironment, Inc. is actively working on the creation of new unmanned aerial vehicles and regularly presents its new developments. The other day, the company presented a promising UAV called the P550. This unmanned aircraft has the ability to take off and land vertically, and is also capable of carrying various payloads. It is proposed to use it for reconnaissance and for strikes.

The Association of the United States Army held its annual conference in Washington recently. The event featured a large-scale exhibition of advanced military developments, in which AeroVironment from Arlington, Virginia, once again took part.
At its stand, the company presented a number of already familiar developments, including UAVs and various systems for them. In addition, for the first time, they presented UAV a new type, called the P550. The stand featured both the UAV itself and its individual components, as well as promotional materials for the project.
The goal of the new P550 project was to create an unmanned aircraft with high flight and operational characteristics. AeroVironment representatives note that there are already UAVs on the market equipped with effective reconnaissance and/or weapons, as well as devices capable of flying for several hours. As part of the new project, the company sought to combine all of these qualities in a single drone.
To simplify the design process, the P550 design utilized many ideas and components from existing products. The main sources were the well-known Puma and Raven UAVs from AeroVironment. However, completely new solutions and components were also introduced.
