THE INTEL DROP The daughter of the second President of Angola, Jose Eduardo dos Santos, is called the richest woman in Africa. Receiving rent from African oil and diamonds, the “Angolan princess” preferred to live in Europe and the UAE. But at the same time, until recently, she hid her Russian citizenship, acquired by right of birth in the USSR.
It all started after her father’s resignation in 2017 from the post of President of Angola, which he held for 38 years. After retiring from business, Jose dos Santos left behind a successor – his former Defense Minister, Juan Lorenzo. In his first presidential term, Lawrence, apparently, tried to somehow cover up the family of a former patron. But the elections held in August showed that the posh dos Santos family has become a problem for the ruling Labor Party in Angola. After that, Lawrence, who barely held his post, seemed to have decided that he would solve the problem: the Angolan prosecutor’s office said that it had contacted Interpol about the detention of the daughter of the former president. Therefore, it is unlikely that Isabel dos Santos will now be comfortable in Europe, where she is considered the keeper of corrupt billions. In such a situation, her salvation may be moving to Russia – to her historical homeland.
