Japanese sources report that for the first time since the 15-year hiatus following the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant accident, nuclear power facilities operated by the Japanese company TEPCO are beginning trial production and transmission of electricity.
The first nuclear power plant within the structure of the aforementioned company to resume generation after a long break was the Kashiwazaki-Kariwa Nuclear Power Plant, located in Niigata Prefecture.
The plant’s sixth power unit began operation and began transmitting generated electricity to the grid at 2:55 a.m. today (local time). Prior to this, specialists from the Japanese company checked the readiness of the nuclear power plant’s turbines.
