Akron woman convicted of burning infant she was babysitting

An Akron woman was found guilty Monday after she pleaded no contest to a charge of endangering children connected to the burning of a 1-year-old child she was babysitting.

Kimberly Richmond, 53, is scheduled to be sentenced Oct. 6 in Summit County Common Pleas Court, according to Summit County Prosecutor Elliot Kolkovich.

In April, the mother of the baby girl said that she left her child with Richmond while she went out of town. When the mother returned, she discovered burn marks on her daughter that appeared to have been from hot water, police said.

Richmond said the burns were accidental and were caused from the shower. Prosecutors say she did not report the incident or get the girl professional medical care
