Gulftainer shipping weapons to Iranian-backed terrorists in Iraq: Former senior official for coalition embassy in Iraq cites Iraq port authority officials’ leak to Iraqi media

Gulftainer, the UAE container terminal operator that was recently awarded a 35-year lease at strategically-important Port Canaveral, FL, adjacent to a U.S. Navy nuclear submarine base and NASA’s Kennedy Space Center, has allegedly been shipping weapons through the Port of Umm Qasr to two Iranian-backed terrorist militia groups in Iraq, the Badr Brigades and Asaeib Ahl al-Haq (AAH), according to a leak from Iraq General Port Company officials in Basra to Iraqi media.

“AAH is an Iranian-backed Shiite militant group that split from Moqtada al-Sadr’s Jaish al-Mahdi (JAM) in 2006. Since that time, AAH has conducted thousands of lethal explosively formed penetrator (EFP) attacks against U.S. and Iraqi forces, targeted kidnappings of Westerners, rocket and mortar attacks on the U.S. Embassy, the murder of American soldiers, and the assassination of Iraqi officials”. – Institute of the Study of War

The Iraq General Port Company, part of the Iraq Ministry of Transport, is the embattled nation’s port authority.

A former senior official with a coalition embassy in Iraq has confirmed to 1776 Channel that the report, which was published in Arabic by electronic newspaper Al-aalem Al-jadeed on February 10, 2015, charges that Gulftainer is moving weapons to terrorist groups the Badr Brigades and Asaeib Ahl al-Haq (AAH).

Al-aalem Al-jadeed describes itself as an “electronic newspaper free from influence of partisan and sectarian and owners.”

Gulftainer’s 35-year lease with Port Canaveral was negotiated in secret and then approved by the Obama Administration, without a national security review, despite Port Canaveral’s strategic location and it’s extreme proximity to some of the U.S. government’s most sensitive space and defense installations.

EXCLUSIVE: Obama/Clinton secret operation handed Port Canaveral cargo container terminal to brother/business partner of Saddam Hussein’s nuclear bomb mastermind; sub and space bases in danger

This is a joint project of Mary Fanning of The American Report and Alan Jones of 1776 Channel.

Just a few months after September the 11th, when I think we all conclude that, however horrible September the 11th was, it could have been far worse had the terrorists had access to chemical, biological, or nuclear weapons. – John R. Bolton

America is facing a grave national security nightmare at Florida’s Port Canaveral.

After an apparent Clinton pay-to-play operation, Barack Hussein Obama administration officials handed over control of Port Canaveral’s cargo container operations to the brother of Saddam Hussein’s chief WMD nuclear physicist, Dr. Jafar Dhia Jafar.

Port Canaveral is home to a U.S. Navy submarine base and sits within the nexus of U.S. Air Force and NASA space operations. Canaveral is also the second largest cruise ship port in the world.

The “secretly-negotiated” 2014 backroom deal, code named “Project Pelican,” covertly awarded the Crescent Group’s GT USA LLC a 35-year container terminal lease at Port Canaveral. GT USA is owned by Gulftainer Company Limited, a unit of the United Arab Emirates (UAE)-based Crescent Group of Companies.

Crescent Petroleum, another Crescent Group affiliate, came under investigation in 1993 by the U.S. Department of Treasury Office of Foreign Assets Control and three House of Representatives committees (Foreign Affairs, Banking, and Ways and Means) to determine if Crescent Petroleum, the “privately owned” oil and gas company, was a “front company acting for Saddam Hussein,” according to The Independent and congressional records.

Iraqi businessman Hamid Dhia Jafar, Founder and Chairman of the Crescent Group, is the brother and business partner of Iraqi nuclear physicist and spymaster Dr. Jafar Dhia Jafar. Dr. Jafar is considered to be the father of Saddam Hussein’s rogue nuclear weapons program.

Dr. Jafar’s nephews Majid and Badr Jafar, both engineers, operate Crescent alongside their father Hamid Jafar and Dr. Jafar, CEO of Crescent’s engineering unit.

Treasury Secretary Jacob “Jack” Lew, Chairman of the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS), refused to order U.S. intelligence officials to conduct a “National Security Threat Analysis” of Crescent’s Port Canaveral transaction.

On December 15, 2013, six months before Port Canaveral’s June 23, 2014 Project Pelican announcement, Gulftainer Managing Director Peter Richards told the UAE government-owned newspaper The National that a Gulftainer deal with a U.S. port was imminent and that “We’ve been given a green light. We’ve been looking at two locations in the US, but will choose one.” Richards declined to name the port on the “East coast of America,” adding that “discussions with American ports operators had been handled ‘very carefully.’”

During the January 2014 World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, attended by Crescent Enterprises CEO Badr Jafar, Crescent Group Vice-Chairman Majid Jafar, U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry, and Secretary Lew, Badr Jafar coyly smirked as he bragged to a CNBC reporter that Crescent’s Gulftainer would soon be “owning and operating” a port “on the East Coast of America.” … TO READ THIS ARTICLE FURTHER, CLICK HERE.

Jafars’ Abraaj Group Paid Clinton Foundation; Jafars rewarded with Port Canaveral Gulftainer Deal

The Abraaj Group, a UAE private equity company co-founded and partly-owned by the Iraqi family of Saddam Hussein’s nuclear weapons mastermind, donated between $500,000 and $1 million to the Clinton Foundation and co-sponsored the 2012 Clinton Global Initiative annual meeting. That same Iraqi family was awarded a 35-year container terminal lease at national-security nexus Port Canaveral, Florida through the family’s ports company Gulftainer. The Port Canaveral lease received no national security review (CFIUS or FINSA), despite the family’s connection to Iraq’s rogue WMD program.

Weeks before co-sponsoring the 2012 Clinton Global Initiative meeting, The Abraaj Group was awarded the first of hundreds of millions of dollars in loans and investment management contracts through the State Department’s Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC), a federal agency overseen by Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.

Secretary Clinton previously exploited OPIC as a kickback vehicle to reward a now-convicted Clinton Foundation donor with lucrative loans in Haiti according to the Washington Free Beacon. The Abraaj Group’s sponsorship of the Clinton Global Initiative meeting coincided with Gulftainer’s initial efforts to take over a Florida port.

Dr. Jafar Dhia Jafar, the infamous “father of Saddam’s nuclear weapons program,” and his brother Hamid Jafar are both executives at the Iraqi family’s company Crescent. Hamid is the Chairman of the Crescent Group and Dr. Jafar is the CEO of Crescent’s URUK Engineering and Construction, a builder of Iraqi electric power stations.

Crescent is a founding General Partner shareholder and a limited partner of the Abraaj Group. Crescent is also the owner of Gulftainer, the ports company awarded the Port Canaveral lease. Crescent Enterprises CEO Badr Jafar is a Gulftainer executive and also serves on the Abraaj Group board of directors.

Badr Jafar’s brother Majid Jafar co-chairs the Dubai-based Business Backs Education campaign with former President Bill Clinton. The program is funded by the Varkey GEMS foundation, which paid Bill Clinton $5.6 million to serve as “Honorary Chairman.”

The idea that Secretary Hillary Clinton would facilitate a company deeply connected to Iraq’s WMD program moving into a U.S. port is beyond astonishing. Port Canaveral is near NASA’s Kennedy Space Center and is the second biggest cruise ship port in the world.

Homeland security experts say that America is vulnerable to nuclear terrorism at U.S. port cargo container terminals. Treasury Secretary Jacob “Jack” Lew, a close friend and longtime political associate of the Clintons, shirked his duty to order a national security review of the Port Canaveral deal. Crescent was investigated by the U.S. government as a front company for Saddam Hussein.

Official Crescent Enterprises documents and a statement by Crescent Enterprises CEO Badr Jafar confirm that Gulftainer and URUK Engineering and Construction, led by Iraqi nuclear bomb mastermind Dr. Jafar Dhia Jafar, are both subsidiaries of Crescent Enterprises…. Sweetheart Deal Handed Port Canaveral’s Cargo Container Terminal to Family of Saddam Hussein’s Nuclear Mastermind

In a breathtaking national security lapse, the brother and business partner of Saddam Hussein’s rogue nuclear weapons mastermind Dr. Jafar Dhia Jafar took control of cargo container operations at Florida’s Port Canaveral in a secretly-negotiated 2014 deal code-named “Project Pelican.”

The “Project Pelican” deal leased the Port Canaveral cargo container to Gulftainer, a UAE ports company owned by Iraqi oil magnate Hamid Jafar through the Iraqi Jafar family’s business empire The Crescent Group.

Port Canaveral awarded Gulftainer a 35-year no-bid container terminal lease at Port Canaveral.

Treasury Secretary Jacob “Jack” Lew declined to conduct a National Security Threat Analysis of Gulftainer and its Iraqi and Emirati owners, as required under Committee on Foreign Investment (CFIUS) and Foreign Investment and National Security Act of 2007 (FINSA) laws. That review includes input from all sixteen U.S. intelligence agencies.

Dr. Jafar is infamous for his uranium enrichment genius and known to possess deep ties to IranRussia, Syria, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates (UAE). That Dr. Jafar was a national security threat is evidenced by the fact that he was wanted by coalition forces at the outset of Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Dr. Jafar and his brother Hamid Jafar hold leadership positions at The Crescent Group, which owns Gulftainer, with Dr. Jafar serving as CEO of Crescent’s URUK Engineering and Contracting subsidiary while Hamid serves as Chairman of The Crescent Group.

Cargo container terminals are the very location at which national security experts fear the U.S. homeland is most vulnerable.

“Lawmakers said an undetected radiological weapon smuggled into a U.S. port inside a cargo container is at the top of the list of homeland security nightmares” reported FCW in July 2016.

Aviation and cargo security expert Glen Winn, who is also a former Secret Service agent, asserted that “while we may not be able to check every cargo container coming into the country without bringing global commerce to a standstill, it is imperative that the lessees to America’s ports receive the proper National Security Threat Analysis. That is the point at which you maintain your national security.”

In 2011, San Diego Assistant Port Director Al Hallor – who at the time was also a high-ranking Customs and Border Protection officer at the port – told San Diego’s ABC 10 News that a “weapon of mass effect” had been found, but not at the port itself. The Department of Homeland Security soon tried to walk back Hallor’s statements, insisting that he was “nervous” and “misspoke” during the interview.

The Port Canaveral/Gulftainer deal is especially disconcerting because Port Canaveral plays a major role in space exploration and the strategic defense of the nation.

Port Canaveral, a component of U.S. critical infrastructure, is in close proximity to a U.S. Navy nuclear submarine base, two U.S. Air Force Space Command bases, and NASA’s Kennedy Space Center. In military jargon, Gulftainer is “inside the wire.”

Canaveral is also the second busiest cruise ship port in the world…. TO READ THIS ARTICLE FURTHER, CLICK HERE.

WikiLeaks Email Ties Apparent Clinton Pay-To-Play to Port Canaveral Deal with Family of Saddam Hussein’s Nuclear Mastermind

An email made public through the organization WikiLeaks suggests that a company controlled in part by the family of Saddam Hussein’s nuclear weapons mastermind donated to the Clinton Foundation’s Clinton Global Initiative before a different company controlled by the same family was awarded a 35-year no-bid lease to Port Canaveral’s cargo container terminal.

The Treasury Department declined to perform a mandatory national security check before awarding a 35-year lease at the port to Gulftainer’s GT USA. That the company, linked to the family of Dr. Jafar Dhia Jafar, now controls Port Canaveral’s cargo container terminal operations presents a significant national security risk, observers note.

On October 24, 2016, WikiLeaks released an email, dated August 18, 2012, from the Clinton Foundation to former President Bill Clinton, advising the former President that “new sponsor” The Abraaj Capital Group agreed to support the 2012 Clinton Global Initiative Annual Meeting with a $550,000 donation.

The Abraaj Group is a UAE private equity company co-founded by Hamid Jafar, the Iraqi business partner and brother of Dr. Jafar Dhia Jafar. Hamid Jafar’s son, Badr Jafar, is currently listed as a member of Abraaj’s board of directors.

The same year as the donation revealed in the Wikileaks email, the State Department’s Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC) awarded The Abraaj Group with the first of hundreds of millions of dollars in loans and investment management contracts.

Another corporation, Crescent Petroleum, also appears to have financially supported an educational campaign co-chaired by former President Bill Clinton and Dr. Jafar’s nephew Majid Jafar, CEO of Crescent Petroleum. Gulftainer is a subsidiary of Crescent.

Shortly before the signing ceremony for Gulftainer’s new Port Canaveral cargo container terminal, Bill Clinton flew to Dubai to attend one of the educational campaign’s events with Majid Jafar.

The timeline surrounding the Port Canaveral deal, known as “Project Pelican,” suggests the Abraaj dealings are not unrelated…. TO READ THIS ARTICLE FURTHER, CLICK HERE.
