Argentina Widely Expected To Leave BRICS Bloc, Days After Being Accepted

“I’m not going to push for deals with communists because they don’t respect the basic parameters of free trade, freedom and democracy, it’s geopolitics,” said one of the candidate hopefuls in a statement.

Argentina, one of the largest South American economies behind Brazil, was just recently accepted into the BRICS bloc, one of the few that was admitted to the original five. Now it is widely believed that Argentina could very well leave the bloc.

The Buenos Aires Times reported:

The two main opposition presidential candidates in the upcoming October elections, libertarian leader Javier Milei and right-wing hopeful Patricia Bullrich, both declared on Thursday that they would not allow the country to join the bloc of emerging economies led by Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa…
