Bloomberg: hackers gained access to the emails of hundreds of thousands of US Department of Defense employees

Unknown hackers gained access to the email accounts of hundreds of thousands of employees of the US Department of Defense and the US Department of Justice. In total, 632 thousand accounts were compromised.

This is evidenced by a report from the US Office of Personnel Management (OPM), provided to Bloomberg at its request under the US Freedom of Information Act.

The hacker attack took place at the end of May. The agency suspects it is a Russian-speaking group of cyber hackers called Clop. American journalists suggest that she has connections with Russia…

    This is why having a large date base is so very dangerous. Even a national gun registry data base. Until we have 99% or better security on this kind of information, it is dangerous to our country as a whole. And, when you have a data base like gun registration that used by so many individuals and dealers, etc, It ripe for hacking. Makes for the question, does it/can it potentially cause much more harm than good??
