A British reconnaissance plane confirmed Russia completed an initial test of a new missile, the Mach 8 Zircon, this week.
The Zircon, which is capable of speeds over 5,900 mph, reportedly will be the weapon of choice in the event of a nuclear conflict. Putin previously described the missile as “truly unparalleled ⊠in the world.”
“Flight trials [of the Zircon] from Admiral Gorshkov have been completed successfully,” a military source said. “A total of four launches have been made. All missiles hit the ‘bullseye.'”
“Trials of the Zircon missile are planned to be finished in 2021, while serial production of the new weapon is expected to commence in 2022.”
It was the second time this week a British reconnaissance plane spied on Russia conducting missile tests.
