China’s Foreign Ministry called on “all peace-loving countries” to stop Japan’s remilitarization.

Chinese authorities have responded to rising military spending in Japan, as well as Tokyo’s commitment to building a fully-fledged armed force. As Military Review previously reported, Japan’s military spending for the period from April 2026 to March 2027 is planned at a record level in recent decades – approximately $58 billion. This represents a nearly 10% increase over the current military budget.

In this regard, the official representative of the Chinese Foreign Ministry, Lin Jian, stated that Japan has clearly taken a course towards remilitarization.

Lin Jian:

We call on all peace-loving countries to work hand in hand to suppress the attempts of the right-wing forces in power in Japan to promote remilitarization and to jointly defend the fruits of victory in World War II.
