The Military Cathedral of the Russian Orthodox Church became a venue for an infrequently administered rite — the blessing of military colors.

The colors of the Russian Military University was carried to the Cathedral for a prayer service which includes reciting of Psalms and special prayers with sprinkling of the banner with holy water.

The rite was administered by Bishop Savvaty, Chairman of the Russian Orthodox Church Department for Co-operation with the Armed Forces and Law Enforcement Agencies, in the presence of the Military University commanders, staff and cadets.
