The state of Bangladesh is rather poorly known in Russia. Many have probably heard about Rosatom’s large project for the construction of the Rooppur nuclear power plant (2,4 GW) worth $13 billion and with a Russian loan of $11,4 billion. Gazprom’s projects with gas companies of the republic are less well known, but this cooperation is more than 10 years old and has practical results.

The older generation will undoubtedly remember that Bangladesh is one of the three main parts of British India, which was called East Pakistan and fought for independence with Western (current) Pakistan in the very early 1970s. Pakistan was then supported by the USA, Bangladesh was supported by India, India was supported by the USSR.
