Japan confirmed 255,534 new COVID-19 cases Thursday, hitting a daily record, as the nation continues to struggle with the seventh wave of infections.
The daily tally was above 200,000 for the second straight day, with 21 of the country’s 47 prefectures reporting record figures.
A total of 287 deaths were reported, as a health ministry advisory panel warned the toll in Japan may continue to grow.
