CRISPR Gene-Editing Mad Science Experiments Turn Sweet Hamsters Into Vicious Monsters

by Shane Trejo

Recent gene editing experiments performed with clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeats (CRISPR) technology has turned innocent hamsters into demonic rage-fueled monsters.

Georgia State University (GSU) scientists experimented on hamsters with the hypothesis that removing the hormone vasopressin and its receptor, Avpr1a, from the critters would facilitate cooperation and harmony among the hamsters. It turned out they were dead wrong.

“We were really surprised at the results,” H. Elliot Albers, a lead researcher for the study, said to Metro.

“We anticipated that if we eliminated vasopressin activity, we would reduce both aggression and social communication,” Albers continued, adding that his mad science made hamsters show “high levels of aggression towards other same-sex individuals” regardless of sex or genotype…
