Liberal TV show host Bill Maher is warning Democrats about reprisal from Republicans after former President Donald Trump was indicted on criminal charges late last week.
Speaking to his roundtable of guests, Maher said Friday that he believes Republicans will attempt to arrest President Joe Biden toward the end of his time in office as part of a “cycle of revenge” for the indictment of Trump by Democrat and Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg. Trump is expected to be arraigned Tuesday on charges that he obscured the reporting of a hush-money payment made to an adult film star just days before the 2016 presidential election.
“I always ask myself the question, ‘What is actually better for the future of the country and my future?’ Because I don’t want to live in a country where we are one of these places where whoever is president, as soon as they get out of office, they go after them. It’s almost Greek tragedy-like because you set off this cycle of revenge like The House of Atreus. And I guarantee you when Biden is out of office, Day Two, they will try to arrest him,” Maher said.
