DC Democrat calls for more police as crime continues to plague district

Long-time Washington, D.C. , Democrat Denise Rucker Krepp criticized her own party for its stance on criminal reform and believes more police are needed to combat a “crime surge.”

Krepp, an advisory neighborhood commissioner whose ward represents close to 2,500 D.C. residents, said she is puzzled by D.C. Democrats’ push for a sweeping reform of the criminal code, which would reduce sentences and give those convicted of murder and rape opportunities for early release 20 years into their sentence, among other provisions

“We’re in the middle of a crime surge,” Krepp told Fox News in an interview on Dec. 17. “I’ve had in the past year: Two murders, multiple armed carjackings, stabbings, shootings, and now home invasion. Not good, not good at all. And by the way, armed carjacking in front of my house. That really pissed me off.”
