It’s more bad news for President Joe Biden.
Politico just published a report quoting a number of Democrat insiders as suggesting that Biden is a huge liability for Democrats going forward, including in the midterm elections.
“More of a drag than Obama”
Some of the insiders quoted by Politico are particularly worried about the effect that Biden’s lack of success and lack of popularity is going to have on the midterm elections.
Democratic strategist Danielle Cendejas, for example, told Politico:
Any [midterm election candidate] who’s polling is getting a poll back right now showing the president is more of a drag than Obama was in the midterms. That, I think, leads to a pile on of Democrats who are frustrated about their prospects.
Part of what Cendejas was referring to here is the fact that there seems to be a strong relationship between a president’s approval rating and the outcome of midterm elections. Thus, Biden’s approval rating coming in at less than 40% is bad news for Democrat candidates nationwide.
