There are certain voting blocs on which the two major political parties rely heavily. For Republicans, it’s not only critical that they have the support of Evangelical Christians and non-college-educated white men, but they also need them to be energized and head to the polls. Similarly, the Democrats count on black and Hispanic Americans along with college-educated white women, and failure to secure strong majorities in those demographics can destroy their chances.
But then there are the battleground demographics which are often in battleground states. While Democrats have already seen a devasting and consistent downward trend with Hispanics – one of those aforementioned key constituencies which are currently showing even less Democratic support than that of white folks overall – we’re also seeing a dramatic shift with suburban swing voters, a group that can tilt the direction in favor of either party if polls move dramatically enough. And that’s exactly what appears to be happening right now…
