Dutch tourist Murder is third Double Murder this month

An elderly lady from the Netherlands, was one of the victims of the third double murder in South Africa in less than a month. The Dutch tourist murder, follows two previous shocking murders, the Sophiatown Double murder and the Double murder at Stella Londt.

On Wednesday afternoon, October 30, a family from Marloth Park in the Mpumalanga were attacked, tied up and gagged by a gang pretending to look for employment. The owner (53) of the home in Seeikoei Street and one of his guests, an elderly lady (75) from the Netherlands, died a cruel and slow death – suffocating.

The man’s wife (53) and his mother (80) survived the assault and eventually managed to free themselves, then used a panic button to seek assistance.

Marloth Park is a wildlife sanctuary situated on the southern boundary of the popular tourist attraction the Kruger National Park. It lies on the banks of the Crocodile River between Malelane and Komatipoort. It boasts four of the “Big Five” with the exception of elephant.

Police spokesperson Brigadier Leonard Hlathi, said in a statement the family of four were in their house in Marloth Park on Wednesday, when two suspects approached them asking for work.

The family replied there was no work before they were ambushed.

“Suddenly, more men appeared, one of which had a firearm. The suspects tied the victims up and covered their mouths with cloth. The suspects then fled the scene with valuables.

Arrests Made for the Dutch Tourist Murder at Marloth Park

The attackers are still at large and no arrests have been made for the Dutch tourist Murder.
