Congresswoman Ilhan Omar’s daughter Isra Hirsi, 17, lent her support to the Minneapolis branch of Democratic Socialists of America (DSA), who tweeted on May 27th that they were gathered at the third precinct headquarters of the Minneapolis Police Department ostensibly to protest the death of George Floyd. “Want to help out your comrades protesting at the 3rd precinct (at Lake and Minnehaha?),” the representatives from America’s largest Marxist organization tweeted.
The second night of riots brought shocking damage to local businesses that “was visible for blocks,” as reported at the local Fox affiliate:
“Windows were smashed out of several businesses in a strip mall, including a department store, a charter school and other businesses, and the destruction was visible for blocks. A Wendy’s restaurant was damaged beyond recognition.”
“Here’s a good list of much needed supplies,” the Twin Cities DSA tweeted, with a list attached that included first aid items such as “banaids (sic)” along with “ply wood for shields,” “anything else useful for shielding from cops,” “tennis rackets” and “hockey sticks”.

The Auto Zone that was set on fire was at the same exact intersection where the Twin Cities DSA was meeting with their hockey sticks and shields, supported and endorsed by Congresswoman Ilhan Omar’s daughter. “Another big need,” the Twin Cities DSA continued”, “[i]f you have a car, some folks may need a quick ride out of the area. DM if you’re interested/able!”
Considering that the Twin Cities DSA was openly tweeting about their intentions to use “shields” and “hockey sticks”, one would think that the police would have been able to get a handle on the violence.
It is unlikely that Hamas-linked CAIR ally Mayor Jacob Frey will do much to help police or businesses, considering he said in a statement that the riots in his town are a result of “anger and sadness that has been ingrained in our black community—not just because of five minutes of horror, but 400 years.” He continued:
“If you’re feeling that sadness and that anger, it’s not only understandable—it’s right,” Frey says. “It’s a reflection of the truth that our black community has lived…That sadness must also be understood by our non-black communities.”
Ilhan Omar’s Somali-American daughter appears to be politically aligned with her mother. She wants people to know that she “hate[s] capitalism,” as noted by her Twitter bio. In fact, even at her young age, Isra Hirsi already co-founded an activist group that seeks to bring about a “just transition” to socialism.
The Minneapolis Fire Department responded to 30 separate instances of arson on Wednesday night. The not-so-peaceful protesters endorsed by Isra Hirsi attacked the fire fighters by throwing “rocks and other projectiles.” It is unclear how setting fire to buildings, looting or incessant race-baiting is going to honor George Floyd or bring justice for his death.
