On Thursday, Republican Representatives Elise Stefanik (R-N.Y.) and Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) Â introduced resolutions to formally expunge both the 2019 and 2021 Democrat impeachment attempts against President Donald Trump from the records.
The congresswomen announced both resolutions in a statement saying that the witch hunt impeachments of the former president were unconstitutional. Their resolution seeks to completely remove all charges against Trump and clear his record.
Greeneâs resolution called for Trumpâs 2019 impeachment to be expunged, saying that the circumstances and facts failed to meet the burden of proof necessary to charge Trump with âhigh crimes and misdemeanors.â The House of Representatives was Democrat led in 2019 and accused Trump of abusing his power and obstructing justice during a phone call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenksyy. Trump has maintained his innocence, saying there was nothing wrong with the phone call.
