FBI Director Christopher Wray resigned from his position on Wednesday, multiple outlets reported.
Fox News first reported that Wray stepped down amidst rumors that he was planning to resign. Then-President Donald Trump nominated Christopher Wray to direct the FBI in 2017.

Wray reportedly resigned to avoid being fired by Trump upon taking office for his second term. Deputy Director Paul Abbate will now become acting director of the FBI.
“Well, I can’t say I’m thrilled with him,” Trump told NBC’s Kristen Walker during an interview Friday. “He invaded my home — I’m suing the country over it. He invaded Mar-a-Lago.”
