The St. Louis couple who brandished weapons while staring down Black Lives Matter demonstrators in the summer of 2020 could lose their law licenses.

Missouri Chief Disciplinary Counsel Alan Pratzel asked the Missouri Supreme Court to suspend the licenses of Mark and Patricia McCloskey, citing how the couple pleaded guilty to misdemeanor charges for aiming guns at protesters at the height of the protests after George Floyd’s death, according to court filings reported by KCUR-FM.

Mark McCloskey pleaded guilty to fourth-degree misdemeanor assault and was ordered to pay a $750 fine, while Patricia McCloskey pleaded guilty to second-degree misdemeanor harassment. She was ordered to pay $2,000.

Missouri Gov. Mike Parsons pardoned the McCloskeys this summer, but Pratzel said their behavior warrants discipline because they showed “indifference to public safety” and involved “moral turpitude.”

An attorney for the McCloskeys declined to comment on Monday, the Associated Press reported.

The couple works together at the McCloskey Law Center and focus on personal injury, medical malpractice, and defective products cases.

Mark McCloskey is running in the Republican primary for the U.S. Senate to replace GOP Sen. Roy Blunt, who is retiring in 2022.

Other notable candidates running for the nomination are GOP Reps. Vicky Hartzler and Billy Long, Missouri Attorney General Eric Schmitt, and former Missouri Attorney General Eric Greitens. The seat, rated as “solid Republican” by most political analysts, is not expected to be particularly competitive in the general election.
