House Democrat Makes an Insulting Closing Argument for Jay Jones, and Virginia Voters Shouldn’t Buy It

As RedState reported, the fallout from the Jay Jones texting scandal continues to rock the race for attorney general in Virginia, with new polling from Trafalgar Group showing GOP Attorney General Jason Miyares now leading the embattled Democrat nominee by six points after trailing him by four points in their previous poll.

There has also been an “up-ballot” effect as well, with notable movement in the gubernatorial race and the lieutenant governor race, with both races now in statistical ties and within the margin of error compared to Trafalgar’s prior poll that was taken just a few days before the scandal broke, and before the sole gubernatorial debate between Lt. Gov. Winsome Earle-Sears (R) and Abigail Spanberger (D) took place.

The texts Jones sent in August 2022 included him expressing fantasies about killing then-Virginia Speaker of the House Todd Gilbert (R) with “two bullets to the head,” and of Gilbert’s children dying in his wife Jennifer’s arms. Though Jones has acknowledged sending them, he has denied allegations that he remarked in a phone conversation that maybe if a few police officers were killed as a result of not having qualified immunity, law enforcement would change their tactics with suspects…
