In a rapid intensification, Hurricane Erin transformed into a powerful Category 5 storm Saturday, but by Sunday morning, its winds had decreased to 125 mph to reclassify as a Category 3. However, the National Hurricane Center (NHC) is now saying that the hurricane will likely restrengthen over the next few days.

Located around 235 miles from San Juan, Puerto Rico and 200 miles from Grand Turk Island, it’s expected that the core of Erin will pass both the Turks and Caicos Islands and southeastern Bahamas throughout Sunday night and Monday.
