Is a Face Shield or Goggle Mandate Coming to Your Town, Next?

BY  ADAM

If Dr. Anthony Fauci has his way, you may be a seeing an addition to the mask mandate that many governors are issuing around the country.

For better protection, he says, you should wear a face shield or goggles, during an interview with ABC News.

“Theoretically you should protect all of the mucosal surfaces [eyes, nose, mouth], so if you have goggles or an eye shield, you should use it,” he said in an interview with ABC News on Instagram Wednesday.

He admitted that it’s not “universally recommended but just for those who want “perfect protection” against the coronavirus.

Fauci said he’s worried about heading into fall with the flu season and hopes that people will wear masks to prevent the spread.

He added one of the reasons eyewear hasn’t been recommended yet is “it’s so easy for people to just make a cloth mask.”

Do cloth masks work?

When the mask mandate came, it didn’t come out of nowhere. In fact, in the beginning we were told masks weren’t needed.

“There’s no reason to be walking around with a mask,” infectious disease expert Dr. Anthony Fauci told 60 Minutes.

While masks may block some droplets, Fauci said, they do not provide the level of protection people think they do. Wearing a mask may also have unintended consequences: People who wear masks tend to touch their face more often to adjust them, which can spread germs from their hands.

There were suggestions, of masks, for weeks before any mandate came.

Will we see the same transition play out here? Is a new mandate coming to your state or town?

How would Americans feel about an additional mandate for goggles or face shields?

Face shields are useless as air flows around them. Once they figure that out, they will start mandating sealed goggles.
