USA TODAY Israel’s military responded to an Iranian missile attack by conducting “precise strikes on military targets” in Iran on Friday, a move that appeared to push the Middle East to a more dangerous and multi-front phase of conflict a year after Hamas’ Oct. 7 attacks on the Jewish state.
“The regime in Iran and its proxies in the region have been relentlessly attacking Israel since October 7th – on seven fronts – including direct attacks from Iranian soil,” the Israel Defense Force said in a statement. “Like every other sovereign country in the world, the State of Israel has the right and the duty to respond.”
Israel said its “defensive and offensive capabilities are fully mobilized.”
