Israel Defense Forces showed videos and photos to journalists Sunday that they say show Hamas operating out of hospitals in Gaza. Targeting hospitals is considered a war crime, so they’re trying to handcuff Israel’s ability to respond. If a hospital can be proven to also be a military site, then it is not a war crime to attack it, but Israel knows it would still lose in the war of public opinion if it did so.
IDF also alleges that Hamas gunmen have fired at Israeli forces from the hospitals:
Israeli Defense Forces spokesman Rear Adm. Daniel Hagari presented videos to reporters that he said revealed Hamas agents using an underground entrance tunnel at the Sheikh Hamad Hospital â and also opening fire at Israeli forces from the medical center, the Times of Israel reported.
âIf it werenât enough that we exposed a tunnel under the hospital, the terrorists also shot at our soldiers from within the hospital,â Hagari said.
