Fresh off his Democratic Senate primary win in Texas, state Sen. James Talarico is facing new scrutiny after Republicans resurfaced a video from his time in the Texas Legislature in which he claimed there are six biological sexes.

The video, recorded during a 2021 committee hearing, shows Talarico arguing that sex exists on a “spectrum” while questioning legislation involving transgender athletes in girls’ K-12 sports.

Talarico defeated Rep. Jasmine Crockett in Tuesday’s Democratic Senate primary, but the resurfaced clip has quickly become ammunition for critics who say the lawmaker’s views are out of step with voters…
